It appears to me to be a matter of some consequence that
the impression should not be created that the Auditor and the
Assistant Auditors in Hongkong are not entitled to equally
favourable consideration as are the members of the Cadet
Service and I am strongly of the opinion that the Officers
in question, holding, as they do, very important and highly
responsible positions in the Colony, are entitled to expect,
in connection with any general revision of salaries, to
bestiali receive the same favourable pessideration as is given to
members of the Cadet Service, and it appears to me that any
action which, however remotely, may give rise to any other
impression is greatly to be deprecated.
